For the most part they are light hearted and funny, but as the show gradually reveals their backstories and flaws, it adds quite a bit of depth and even sadness at times. The characters are all so diverse and unique and the voice acting is perfect. For a kids show, Adventure Time has surprising mature and deep themes, making it a joy to watch for all ages.
